The heritage “Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region” is a unique testimony to the history of people and their communities who secretly transmitted their faith in Christianity during the time of prohibition spanning more than two centuries in Japan. Located in very remote areas including small islands at the westernmost edge of Japan, the property represents how the Christian communities survived in the midst of the conventional society and its religions, gradually transforming, ultimately ending their religious traditions and being assimilated into modern society after the prohibition was lifted. In Bahrain, 30th June 2018, this cultural heritage was nominated World Cultural Heritage after many years of the researchs. The meeting, with the support of the book aims to approach the audience exploring sites and landscapes where for three centuries the hidden Christians has practiced the Christianity. An extraordinary meeting between Orient and Occident.
